Sustainability Center Overview

Welcome to the Sustainability Center overview! The Sustainability Center empowers fleets to achieve substantial fuel and energy savings through actionable insights and emissions reduction opportunities. Let’s get started. Click Sustainability. Click Sustainability Center. You can filter the data displayed by Groups, Powertrain and fuel types, and Date range using the tools at the top of the page. Filtering by Groups allows you to select both built-in groups and your own user-defined groups. Filtering by Powertrain and fuel types allows you to show data for Battery Electric Vehicles, Internal Combustion Engines, and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles. By default, the Sustainability Center loads with no filter applied for the powertrain type and data for the entire fleet is displayed. Filtering by Date range allows you to display data from the Last 3 months, Last quarter, Last year, or This year. The metric summary cards  provide a broad view of the fleet’s key sustainability and fuel efficiency metrics, including Emissions Intensity, Avoided Tailpipe Emissions, and Fuel and Energy Economy. Emissions Intensity measures how much emissions are produced by a vehicle over a given distance. Tailpipe Emissions Avoided measures the emissions prevented by using Battery Electric Vehicles and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles. Fuel and Energy Economy measures how much fuel and energy a vehicle uses over a given distance. It’s calculated by converting energy into fuel equivalents and dividing total fuel by the distance traveled. When you select a metric summary card, the Emissions and Fuel Trend charts as well as the Opportunities for Reducing Emissions and Fuel sections update accordingly. When the Emissions Intensity card is selected, for example, the trend chart shows how emissions intensity has changed over time. You can click the Absolute emissions tab on the chart if you want to see emissions trends in terms of absolute values instead. When the Fuel and Energy Economy card is selected, the trend chart shows how fuel and energy economy has changed over time. You can click the Fuel and Energy Used tab to see values instead of changes. The Fuel Used While Idling pie chart, visible when the Fuel and Energy Economy card is selected, shows total fuel and energy used while idling as a percentage of total fuel and energy used. Your fleet’s idling time includes both productive and preventable idling. The chart shows the percentage of idling fuel and energy used that is considered productive versus preventable. MyGeotab’s built-in rules engine enables fleet operators to set software-based rules to identify excessive idling events and understand where coaching, maintenance, or other corrective actions should be taken. To view and edit your Idling rules, click the Edit idling rules link. The Fuel Used While Idling by Group table provides a ranking of fleet groups based on fuel used while idling as a percentage of overall fuel usage. This helps identify idling hotspots within the fleet. The Idling Exceptions chart shows idling exception data based on MyGeotab’s built-in Idling and Idling Within Zone rules. For both rules, the total count of exceptions and associated idling hours are presented. Remember that the data presented in these tables is dependent on which metric summary card you have selected. If you’re interested in seeing these same charts in terms of emissions, click the Emissions Intensity card. The Transitioning to EVs section provides a snapshot of EV suitability for your operations based on factors like vehicle class and range capability. Potential Replacements shows how many of your light-duty vehicles could be replaced by a comparable battery electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle. Potential Emissions Savings provides estimated savings associated with making these replacements. Savings are calculated by comparing estimated tailpipe emissions of recommended EV replacements with those of existing ICE vehicles. Fleets that are interested in running a more detailed assessment, including financial factors, can click the link to run a full EV Suitability Assessment (EVSA).
