Introduction to managing HOS/ELD logs

Introduction to managing HOS and ELD logs! Let's get started. After drivers have logged into Geotab Drive and generated logs, we can view their duty status logs. To start, click Compliance. Click HOS. Click Logs. Select the Date Period. There are several options to choose including a custom option that allows you to set specific dates. Select a driver from the Drivers dropdown menu. In the Select additional logs dropdown, the Include System Logs option shows details, such as when a truck is powered on. The Include intermediate logs option shows intermediate driving logs required by the field technical standards. Show modifications is a useful option that shows if any of the logs have been edited. For this demonstration, select Show modifications. Click apply changes to view the logs. The report shows all dates based on the driver's time zone. This is a great example of why it is important to have the correct time zones selected for each driver. The legend for verified, unverified and edited logs, as well as personal conveyance and violations will help you understand the logs. Working your way from left to right, the top of the graph shows the date, driver's ruleset, timezone, and total driving distance. Below this, the driver's duty statuses are displayed on the graph for each 24 hour period. Click View Logs to see a list view of the information. The list view shows information including status, time, location, trailers, distance, duration, and vehicles. If annotations were added, they will be shown in the logs. You can have annotations for asset inspections, yard moves, and more. A checkmark means a log was verified and a pencil means a log was edited. Automatic drive logs are created when the vehicle drives five miles per hour, and automatic on logs are generated when the vehicle stops moving. Automatic logs cannot be edited and the driving time cannot be shortened. Manual logs can be edited. Manual logs are created when the driver physically changes a status in Geotab Drive, such as switching from on to off. If an administrator edits a manual log, the edit must be accepted or rejected by the driver in Geotab Drive. The availability of the driver will not change until the driver has accepted the requested edit. The edited log will stay in a pending state, highlighted in yellow, until the driver accepts or rejects the change. Congratulations!
