We ran some test so created defect list for asset inspections.

Thank you for asking this question in our community. This has recently come up internally as well. You can delete a defect list you just have to wait until no completed inspections are using it. So you will need to wait to purge the old inspections and then you can delete the list. You can move the list to a group that no one uses in the meantime so no new inspections use it in the future. I didnt find any other ways to do it other than that.

Defect list we need to delete just has 1 Inspection log and this message show up when try to remove it:
Checking inspection log listed, it is marked as repaird/safe and asigned to empty group
