Hi, @MKesi-6815
When GPS tracking and trip logs are working properly, but two different devices are unable to read the mileage (odometer), the problem is rarely with the GO device. At Geotab, this is almost always due to the subscription plan, the installation harness, or the compatibility of the vehicle's computer (ECM).
I recommend verifying the vehicle's compatibility with the odometer reading.
If the mileage isn't being recorded even after trying with several devices, I suggest checking the following:
1. Compatibility and Plan: Make sure your tariff plan isn't the basic plan, as this one doesn't support odometer data.
2. Communication with the ECM: Check that the GO device is properly communicating with the vehicle's Engine Control Module (ECM).
3. Engine Faults: In MyGeotab, see if there are any “Calibration Memory” faults or engine communication issues that could affect the reading.
4. Restart: Try unplugging and reconnecting the device to reset the communication.
Do you still need any help with this @MKesi-6815
How do you determine the compatibility with the ECM is there a lookup tool?
@MKesi-6815 I use this doc to look through and see how reliably we get some key signals for different makes and models: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1SX0lEb3VPpzUlQo745XRc7EtB5MJTu7QkINKpeY3WfM/edit?gid=546054619#gid=546054619
That is a good starting place. Also one thing to note, not super common but some vehicles have different diagnostic ports in them and there is usually one we recommend to use. If you use the one we dont recommend then we see things like loss of certain signals or all signals.
@EishiFUN thank you - its a 2020 Rouge and its says the output should be 100% but it read the same odometer reading for 5 days straight
@MKesi-6815 We may want to get support to take a look at it and see what is going on since we should be getting the odometer from it. If you need any help making a ticket please let me know.
