We were notified by a customer a few days ago that they were experiencing some issues with our Geotab integration, and after some investigation, we determined that Rule Notification web requests started coming in with the "text/plain" Content-Type header, instead of "application/x-www-url-formencoded" as they usually do. This caused cascading failures for many of our customer integrations and required us to override the Content-Type header in API forwarding middleware wherever possible. The only event we've noticed that seems to correlate to that change is a database update from 11333.561 to 11333.585. The update was completed ~90 seconds after our telemetry indicates that the first webhook failures started. Is this an intentional change to the Content-Type header of notification web requests in a recent update, or should we be reporting this as a bug? I've tried to find release notes or other documentation specific to database version 11333.561 (or any database version, for that matter) but could only find info for general MyGeotab releases.

We want to update our integration to consistently identify archived trailers, and given that there can be multiple Trailers with the same name and the Trailer object doesn't include data to indicate if its archived, our plan in the interim is to look up the matching Device using the 'tmpTrailerId' and check the 'activeTo' date.   How long can we expect the 'tmpTrailerId' property to remain on Devices? Will it be there until Trailers are finally fully deprecated, or is there a possibility the property is dropped before then?  I searched around for some official documentation but only found community forum posts with Geotab engineers talking about the property's intended use.  I didn't see anything to indicate a timeframe for its inclusion on Devices or whether it's expected to be removed whenever Trailers are.

Trailer Deprecation and TmpTrailerId

My team is working on updating our integration to account for the upcoming rate limits, and we're wondering if there's any way to get access to the X-Retry header values to better respond to rate limit timing without simply retrying until it succeeds. Noting this section in the "Working with Rate Limits" guide: "If using the .NET Geotab.Checkmate.Objectmodel nuget package, there is no access to the headers of the request. To facilitate testing of how your integration works with the new limits, a new optional parameter has been added to the API.cs constructor. Constructing with the optional ApiClientConfiguration with EnableRateLimitObservation set to true and run your integration The nuget package will throw an OverLimitException from the library when the returned result is over a given limit even though the server is not limiting the request." This makes it seem like it's only the NuGet SDK that does not expose this information. Of course it would be extremely useful - without it, my options are to have something like an exponential backoff retry policy and keep retrying until the next successful request, or to always wait for the full period, even if it would end sooner. If I know how long I have to wait, I can avoid making further calls that I would otherwise know will fail, and only wait exactly as long as I need to before trying again. I had hoped OverLimitException might expose that information through custom properties, but from what I can tell, it's only a thin wrapper around Exception that allows it to have a more descriptive Type name. Is there any way to know how long to wait until retrying using the NuGet SDK?

**EDIT** Further investigation has revealed that this error is happening regardless of the parameters that I specify, or whether or not it's a multi-call.  I'm able to reproduce it by simple trying an unfiltered "Get" for Routes in the API runner of my database:  Furthermore, this is only happening in a single database and isn't reproducible in other databases that I've tried.  This makes it seem like a database-level issue, so I will be opening up a support ticket to address further. ------------------------------------------- I'm working on a Geotab integration in that incorporates automated Route creation and management as part of its feature set. This is a .NET application written in C# that uses the Geotab NuGet SDK. I'm running into an issue retrieving Routes from the API that I am not sure how to resolve. When I make a multi-call to retrieve multiple Routes from the API, I sometimes encounter this error: "System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: WebServerInvoker exception in a call to 'ExecuteMultiCall': 'ArgumentOutOfRangeException Route Plan count differs form (sic) rule conditions (Parameter 'routePlans')'"   I'm using LINQ to build multi-call argument arrays for each item in a List&lt;string&gt; that represents Load numbers I want to retrieve routes for. Error Retrieving Routes from API - Route Plan Count Differs from Rule Conditions

Hello all!  My question is effectively what's in the title - is it possible to set a user's password to a known value through the API or the MyGeotab SDK?  So far we have tried running a "Set" operation on the user with an updated password property, but that update does not seem to work.  The Set operation completes without fail, but subsequent login attempts using the new values also fail. To be clear, the desire here is to be able to set a user's password to a known value using a database administrator account.  We know that we can set a user's password on initial creation of the user with the "Add" API method, and we also know that we can force a user to change their password on their next login.  The integration we are building requires us to programmatically manage a user's Geotab sessions, including opening them and maintaining them.  In cases where we attempt to start a new session with our known username and password and fail because of invalid user credentials, we need to be able to force reset their password to the value that we know so that we can open a session. Is this possible to do through the API or SDK?

Hello!  I have a few questions regarding notifications and alerts for service outages, whether that be for planned maintenance, unexpected outages or anything else.  I apologize if this question has been addressed elsewhere. After the Google Cloud outage that dropped services throughout the internet a few days ago, several of our clients reached out to us and asked if there was a way to be notified sooner when an outage is happening.  Devices were not working, and they were left wondering where they could go to get an accurate sense of the current service status, see status updates and potentially subscribe to those updates. My question has three parts:Does Geotab have such a resource, something like a central status page that anyone can navigate to where they can see at a quick glance the health of Geotab services?  This would be very handy, especially if users could subscribe to receive notifications when statuses change.Are there any "banner alerts" that are generated for service outages?  The MyGeotab page is the first stop for many of our clients when trying to investigate issues, and seeing a blurb or banner at the top with critical status updates would get that information into the hands of people who need to act on it quickly.Is there an easy way to "subscribe" users to outage alerts?  It seems like the best way to set a user up to get alerts is to create a Geotab user that they can use in both MyAdmin and MyGeotab, then log in as that user in both of those interfaces and enroll them in both sets of alerts (administrative alerts like Telematics Outages from MyAdmin, and standard database and service alerts in MyGeotab).  This is a somewhat tedious process, and isn't abundantly clear to new users that they need to opt-in to those types of alerts.

Geotab Service Outage / Maintenance Status Page or Alert Subscriptions

I am in the middle of creating a process that references DVIRLogs pulled down from GetFeed and creates reports / integrates with other software based on any DVIRDefects that are attached to those logs.  DVIRLog feed objects come through with much of the DVIRDefect data intact on that object, but I also need a lot of the data from `DVIRDefect.Defect`, and all I'm given from the feed is the ID.   I'm able to query the Get&lt;Group&gt; API to return the specific Defect, but in actuality I also need to know about its parents to have a full understanding of the type of defect and the system it applies to (i.e. "Trailer" -&gt; "Lights and Reflectors" -&gt; "Right turn signal not working").  `Defect.Parent` explicitly states in the API definition that the Group object will not have this property set and that it's implied by whichever group has this object as a child.  This makes it seem like I need to retrieve the entire nested Defect Group tree, then find the particular Defect that I'm looking for by its ID and run back up the tree to link it all together with system and sub-system, etc.  Is there an easier way to achieve this, or is there something that I'm missing?

How Can I Retrieve a Defect *And Its Parents* By ID using the MyGeotab SDK?

I'm running a basic "Get" for the type "Driver" in the MyGeotab API Runner, and it's returning the following response no matter what parameters I provide (and even with no parameters other than the TypeName): Unable to cast object of type \u0027Geotab.Checkmate.Database.Bridge.UserBridge\u0027 to type \u0027Geotab.Database.IGetStore\u00601[Geotab.Checkmate.ObjectModel.Driver]\u0027. Is there something I'm missing here?  I'm getting this error in a C# app using the Geotab NuGet package as well, every time I attempt to query for Drivers. 

MyGeotab API Throwing Error for "Get" with Type "Driver"

I am developing a service using the C# SDK that retrieves a feed of diagnostic data from GetFeed in order to parse and analyze certain types of Diagnostic events.  I need to be able to correlate those events to the vehicles they originated from and the dates/times that they occurred, but the Diagnostic object doesn't appear to contain any of this identifying information.  The end goal is to be able to have a list of the particular diagnostic events I'm interested in, alongside the vehicles that reported them, and reach out the API with the date/time of the event to determine their reported location when those events took place.  So, for example, if I have a list of yaw sensor events, I need to be able to determine exactly which vehicles reported those events and when, so that I can then query the API to determine where they took place. I assume there's something I'm missing here, since being able to determine which vehicles are reporting what data seems essential.  How should I be polling for Diagnostic data to be getting this identifying information with it?  If not, is there another way that I can tie these Diagnostic events to specific vehicles?

I'm not 100% certain about the difference in diagnostic results for these calls, so take this with a grain of salt. But first a quick point of clarification. The rough hierarchy of currency (and therefore "accuracy", but only kind of) of data for the diagnostics is DiagnosticRawOdometerId -&gt; DiagnosticOdometerId -&gt; DiagnosticOdometerAdjustmentId (this community post goes into a bit more detail about what each represents: https://community.geotab.com/s/question/0D52J00008pK4FuSAK). The Adjustment is notably the most current/accurate for a moving vehicle - it accounts for the ECM data, plus any UI adjustments, plus distance calculated from GPS since the last reading, and it can be interpolated. If I understand correctly, having the OdometerId returned to you instead of the AdjustmentId would be a less current/accurate reading in most cases. That said, I am so far unable to reproduce what you are reporting here. I've run your first StatusData call against a handful of devices spread across multiple production databases, and for each one I get back a DiagnosticOdometerAdjustmentId, not a DiagnosticOdometerId. I wonder if it's possible that `nowISO` was close enough to the time of a DiagnosticOdometerId reading that there was no need to provide an Adjustment, so it just returned the lower-level reading to you.

The only experience I have with page add-ins is through JavaScript packages deployed as an add-in via the Geotab API. This sounds like the user is trying to effectively iframe their externally-hosted web application to the Geotab interface, which I'm not sure is possible, or how that might work if it is. It seems like Tucker has some good information on this though!

I haven't encountered these directly so I can't say for certain. My guess is that it's a defaulted future time - for example, on a DutyStatusLog that is still active, the "toDate" wouldn't have been set yet, so it might come back with a value like this.

Just to make sure I understand, it seems like your investigation concludes that: <ul><li>AdjustmentIds (at least the two you tested) do not populate naturally in the feed.</li><li>Once an AdjustmentId is created (by querying for interpolated data), that single instance will be available in the feed.</li><li>After that point, the calculated Ids like DiagnosticEngineHoursId (not the "raw" diagnostics like DiagnosticRawEngineHoursId) will incorporate the Adjusted value where appropriate, but will not generate additional AdjustmentIds. Those remain a diagnostic type that are only created on-demand.</li></ul> Did I get that right? If so, this might be a decent summary for <a href="/user/fleetsupport-apiuser-8332" data-id="8332" data-value="FAPI-8332" data-denotation-char="@" class="text-decoration-none mention">@FAPI-8332</a>​. GetFeed StatusData doesn't return DiagnosticEngineHoursAdjustmentId

EDIT: Take a look at Tucker's reply to this, it may not be quite as simple as I'm making it out to be. If I'm not mistaken, the "adjustment" IDs like DiagnosticEngineHoursAdjustmentId are purely interpolated values, meaning that they're calculated and generated only at the time of a specific query by interpolating between the closest two known diagnostic data points. Because they're only generated in response to queries (for example, making a Get call for the engine hours at a point that falls between two raw engine hour reads from a given engine), I wouldn't expect those to come through the Feed. I would expect to see the DiagnosticEngineHoursIds, which are the "raw" reads from the engine, but not the adjustments.

I don't, unfortunately. The provided screen snips don't necessarily show that the zones have no overlap, but I trust that they don't. Those are the only real conditions under which we've seen consistent failure to generate entering events.

Valid Sort constructor call throws an ArgumentException

Is there any chance that these conditions are just not being met by the vehicles? I could be wrong, but it seems that a vehicle would have to both be traveling above 50 km/h and have the brakes on for more than 5 seconds to trigger it. That would be hard to accomplish unless you're barely touching the brakes over that period (which is perhaps what the rule is meant to notify you of). Do you know that there are instances where vehicles in your data are using their brakes for that period while still being above 50 km/h?
