Geotab is releasing updates to how we detect real-time major and minor collisions. This enhancement is a backend model update only, meaning no action is required from you or your team. Everything you rely on today, including your collision detection rules, alert settings, and exception reports, remains exactly the same.

The Real-Time Collision Detection change represents a backend enhancement aimed at increasing accuracy and decreasing false positives. Fleets will see a reduction in total collision alerts in their Exception Reports and alerts, a reflection of improved accuracy, not a change in how your vehicles are being monitored.

Key aspects of this update include:

• Enhanced precision: The new model significantly decreases false positive alerts by utilizing a two-stage detection pipeline that increases accuracy.
• Consistent user experience: Current workflows remain unaffected. Users will still find collision data in MyGeotab and alert notifications will continue through existing channels. -** No manual setup:** Because the improvement is located within the model itself, no changes to rules, thresholds, or configurations are required from fleet administrators.
• Data integrity: By filtering out high-impact events like hard braking or rough terrain that are not actual collisions, this update provides more reliable data for coaching and safety reports.

Everything your team relies on today, such as collision rules, notification settings, driver records, and reports, will remain unchanged. The improvement is entirely within the model.
