What do you mean by "truly active"? Driving time, idle time and ignition events normally give a pretty complete picture of what I would typically consider active. Are you interested in tracking when vehicles are being used for an order or other work activity? Or something else?

With hours of service (HOS) in MyGeotab and the Drive App, you can:

You don't need custom code or to work with the API for this: MyGeotab offers native ways to distinguish actual active use (driving time) from passive engine operation or idling.
The system classifies activity into Driving, Idling (ignition on, vehicle stationary for more than 200 seconds), and Stops (ignition off or prolonged parking).
Built-in options in MyGeotab 1.
The Trip History Report (the simplest at-a-glance view) Where to find it: Go to Map > Trip History (or Compliance/Productivity > Trip History). Why it works:
This report breaks down each trip by driving time versus idling time. You can generate a summary version grouped by asset or driver by day, week, or custom time periods.
2. Risk Management Report / Idling Violations. Where to find it: Go to Safety > Risk Management (or search for “Idling Violations” in Reports).
