That's a good question! NO- although you can search by VIN and can enter only a portion of a VIN for a query (via MyAdmin > Device Management > More Filters), the system will NOT return any results unless the FULL VIN is queried. . . I just did a test run with a known VIN tied to an asset under my scope to see how it would behave. No results were returned for any queries that were short of being the FULL VIN (I tried numerous variations). On a side note, querying with leading and/or trailing spaces did not impact the results (so long as the entire VIN was entered). Hope this helps! Thanks!

Can I search for a partial VIN in My Admin

To figure out when a device was offline, you can check the following logs in MyGeotab: 1. Log and collision data: Go to Activity > Log and collision data. 2. Radio access technology: Look for the 'Radio access technology' diagnostic. Changes in these logs or long periods without GPS/engine updates while the vehicle is in use indicate disconnections. 3. Engine faults: Look for faults like 'Backfill pending' or 'Telematics device fault,' which can be recorded when the device loses communication.

How can I see a history of when a GO device goes offline?

The GO device's accelerometer does provide information for Hard Events (harsh driving), but its availability depends on the service plan: • Base plan: Accelerometer data is not available for harsh driving exception rules. In this plan, the device mainly uses GPS data for tracking and speed. Although the accelerometer detects movement to wake up the device, it doesn't send detailed G-force records to the server. • Pro and ProPlus plans: These are the only plans that support full accelerometer features, including detecting harsh braking, acceleration, and sharp turns. If your client needs to monitor Hard Events, they'll need to upgrade the service plan to Pro or ProPlus.

How are harsh events measured in Base Mode?

Hi, if it was me, I'd create 2 custom rules & trial it on a couple of assets first. Once the zone has been created, go to RULES and ADD RULE. Under CONDITIONS select the relevant zone and choose ENTERING ZONE as the condition. Set the rule to apply from the time the staff member is expected to arrive home, for example 4.30pm. Assign the rule to the relevant asset and add an email notification when the vehicle enters the zone. eg: "vehicle 12345 has arrived at it's home zone at 4.33pm" Set up a second rule for when the vehicle does not arrive a the expected time. configure this rule to identify vehicles that have not entered the home zone by the nominated time and set up a 'CHECK VEHICLE' alert notification. This should tell you when the vehicle has arrived home safely and an alert when it has not arrived as expected & you can check on the driver. You would have to create separate rules for each zone location & associated asset - Copy & Paste only changing zone & asset name.

Can I link a specific asset with a specific zone so I can create a report telling me when that vehicle is not in its "Home" zone?

Customer has a a vehicle showing speeding 5 mph more in the system than he is actually going. Example - he had his cruise control at 71 and in the system, he was showing 76. They believe that it's his tire size causing this issue. He has bigger tires than normally. Is the Audio Feedback is from the Engine or the GPS?

In MyGeotab Is the Audio Feedback for Speeding determined by the engine data, or GPS data?

In the past, it was indicated that, if a fobbed in driver, after a certain amount of time, has left the vehicle after a trip is completed, is then no longer assigned to that vehicle, leaving the assignment as "Unknown Driver" It had related to how much time was allotted until the reminder time trips.I tried to ask Geotab Ace this question, but it only reference manually assigning drivers.

Can I make MyGeotab change the driver to "Unknown Driver" for an asset after a Fobbed user has completed the trip and left the vehicle.

The customer has some hearing impaired drivers and they are looking for some way for alerts from the device to be in some visual form.

Is there a Geotab device for the hearing impaired?

The customer is only using the DVIR (they are not HOS). They want the drivers to do an Asset Inspection daily at the beginning of the shift, but if a defect that was previously reported is not repaired by the next day, they have to first list all defects as repaired before they can do a new inspection, which point they enter in those same defects.

Can a driver submit a new asset inspection without resolving defects from a previous inspection on the same vehicle?

Customer is having control issues, and non-assigned key fobs may have been used in some of their vehicles.

If a Key fob is used that is not linked to a specific driver, does the system acknowledge a key fob was used? If so, does it identify the Fob serial number?

Is it possible to set up Two-Factor Authentication for specific users on the database? In this case they want certain users to use Two-Factor Authentication every time they log in.

Is it possible to set up Two-Factor Authentication for specific users on the MyGeotab database?

I need to know the best way to configure the system so that the driver of a specific vehicle is notified when it's speeding, after hours, etc.

I want to have a speeding rule notification go to the driver of the vehicle that is speeding.

The customer has vehicles that are assigned to certain zones, and they want to make sure those vehicles are in their specific zones at the end of the day. Can I link a specific asset with a specific zone so I can create a report telling me when that vehicle is not in its "Home" zone?

I have a customer in Base Mode that gets Harsh Event data in Exceptions. Since Base mode is very limited in providing engine data, is the accelerometer in the Go Device providing that info, or is it using strictly GPS data?

The key with out of coverage is that once the vehicle is in coverage, that designation is wiped away and there's no history.

We are looking to identify certain vehicles within our databases.

A customer had a vehicle go offline multiple times in a specific time period. I'm trying to find when those events happened in the past, because once the device is back online, it updates everything to smooth over those offline periods. Is there a measurement/engine fault that records that? Is there a specific line item in the log data? Thanks for the help. -Carmine
