Updating terminology across MyGeotab

As part of our ongoing effort to simplify navigation and standardize platform terminology, we are continuing the transition from using the term "Exceptions" to "Events" throughout MyGeotab®. This update creates a more intuitive experience when managing fleet activities and reviewing safety records.

Why it matters

Consistent naming makes it easier for new and experienced fleet managers to navigate the software. Replacing legacy terminology with clear language reduces confusion when training drivers, configuring rules, and reviewing operational data.

  • Find event data faster with standardized labels across core platform pages.
  • Streamline onboarding for new platform administrators using intuitive, industry-standard terms.
What you need to do

No action is required from system administrators to enable this change. All custom rules, notifications, and historical reports remain fully functional without interruption.

  • Navigate to Rules and Groups > Rules to view your updated event configurations.
  • Update your internal documentation or training materials to reflect the Events terminology.
Availability

Effective on August 10, 2026.
