Hello From recent MyGeotab versions (I belive from v9), Restricted Data Mode was introduced. From my understanding, Personal Mode (formerly called Privacy Mode) hides GPS logs, while Restricted Data Mode inhibits the GPS logs. My question is: how is data restricted when this new feature is enabled? From hardware? Or from software?

How does Restricted Data Mode work?

Hello, On the Harness and Identification Application document, this note is labeled as important: ! IMPORTANT: For heavy-duty trucks, always use a vehicle-specific harness when offered by Geotab or the vehicle manufacturer (see the Harness Assessment Cheat Sheet and this document). Where a heavy-duty truck-specific harness is not offered by Geotab or the vehicle manufacturer, use the adapter harness (HRN-CG13S1) for any 16-pin (OBDII) installation method to avoid possible GO device damage. Regarding to the use of HRN-CG13S1 adapter:Is this applicable for legacy devices, such as GO7 and GO6?Or only for GO9? The reason why I'm asking is becasue some other installation notes specify that are exclusive for GO9. Example: SAFETY BULLETIN: Volvo/Mack [2019 and Newer] HD Trucks GO9 Device Failure (If Using 16 Pin [Universal] Harness) Possible Thermal/Fire Hazard Posted in MyAdmin on 2020-09-29

HRN-CG13S1 Note for heavy duty trucks with ALDL 16 pin connector - GO7

Hi, We have used third party devices integration into MyGeotab for some customers, mainly focused on asset tracking. However, is this possible to log engine data using MyAdmin API? On this reference: https://myadmin.geotab.com/sdk#/thirdparty I find this: The following diagnostics are currently available. If not otherwise noted, the value is an integer without a unit of measurement.Low batteryTow detectionStarter tamperPower tamperBattery voltage (unit: V, conversion: 0.001, example: 12.001 V must be inserted as the integer value 12001)Temperature (unit: C, conversion: 0.01, example: 1.01 C must be inserted as the integer value 101)GSM signal strengthLoaded voltage (unit: V, conversion: 0.001, example: 12.001 V must be inserted as the integer value 12001)Battery level (unit: %)Successful uploadsFailed uploadsGPS fix attemptsGPS on time (unit: s)Trip count Besides the listed disgnostics, is this possible to integrate readings such as Odometer and Fuel Used?

That makes sense. If it's a change at dabase level, then there wouldn't be a problem when replacing a new device (doing it properly in MyGeotab). Just would like (if possible) a confirmation.

Hello Yes, that's good info. However, my question is more related to how is it being done:<ul><li>If it happens at a hardware level (GO device), then I would assume the vehicle needs to be stopped in order to be applied when enabled (something similar happens with custom parameters). </li><li>If it happens at a software level (MyGeotab or gateway), then the activation of Restricted Data Mode won't need to wait until the vehicle is stopped.</li></ul> On the other hand, from this clarification, I'd like to understand also what would be the behaivor in case a device replacement occur.

Thanks for tagging <a href="/user/eishifun" data-id="1044" data-value="EishiFUN" data-denotation-char="@" class="text-decoration-none mention">@EishiFUN</a>, and hello <a href="/user/timothy-mott-1661" data-id="1661" data-value="TMOTT-1661" data-denotation-char="@" class="text-decoration-none mention">@TMOTT-1661</a>  Certainly, it's possible to create bench testers, or even to do some arrangements of harnesses to control test some devices. However, the type of testing enviroment may depend on the specific type of failure you are facing. <ul><li>Do you find a common type of issue? (lack of activation, connectivity issues, others?)</li><li>Do you have the specific error message that you are getting?</li></ul>

Device failures

You can find the specs about this on the product guide, under the section "disabled reports":https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jgCGpZOQ-d_fFXkPnibI6Fh12VKVb8u9f9JsexRVIQk/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.z27x8yefc1ly

Why is it that MyGeotab reports are automatically disabled?

Hello, Here's some alternatives: Getting a MyGeotab excel report:To simplify, if you go to MyGeotab UI, then go to vehicles, click on Report button, you can select a report template and click to download an excel. Then, unhide the tab "data" on the excel file. You will have there a row belonging to each vehicle on your database. Simply look at the DeviceName, ID and DeviceSerialNumber to get that master file relation between ID vs vehicles. Concepts about IDs using MyGeotab SDK:On the other hand, you can find some concept definitions on this link:https://geotab.github.io/sdk/software/guides/concepts/#id Generic concepts:To identify a vehicle in MyGeotab, it is important to know that the data comes from a device (hardware) registered in a database. When you add a device (a unique serial number of a physical GO device) into MyGeotab, then an ID is going to be generated automatically in that database. For user identification, it is needed to add a devicename (the identifier that is shown in most of the reports, including map view). DeviceName can be edited by the user, but the ID will never change. With that in mind, if you look at Device object on the SDK, you will find that the ID is a property that can be queried https://geotab.github.io/sdk/software/api/reference/#T:Geotab.Checkmate.ObjectModel.Device

How to get Vehicle Id using the DataFeed MyGeotab API?

Hi, You will find valuable references on these links:https://geotab.github.io/sdk/software/guides/go-device-logging/https://community.geotab.com/s/article/How-often-is-the-odometer-recorded?language=en_US Odometer:The odometer is recorded at the beginning, end, and at every hour of a trip. For HOS vehicles it is also recorded every 8 kilometers. When the GO device detects an ignition change, it will send an odometer request to the engine. The same request is sent every hour if a trip lasts longer than an hour. The last recorded odometer time is displayed beside the odometer field within MyGeotab. Total Fuel Used“Total fuel used (since telematics device install)” is generic status data. No matter how fuel information is received from a particular vehicle, be it OBD2, J1708, J1939 or another diagnostic standard, a generic Total Fuel Used record will be saved after ignition off. An additional record, “Total fuel used while idling (since telematics device install)”, which is the fuel used while road speed is 0, is also saved on ignition off. “Total fuel used (since telematics device install)” (<a href="https://geotab.github.io/sdk/software/api/reference/#T:Geotab.Checkmate.ObjectModel.KnownId" target="_blank">KnownId</a> DiagnosticDeviceTotalFuelId) and “Total fuel used while idling (since telematics device install)” DiagnosticDeviceTotalIdleFuelId are the diagnostics used to track fuel consumption.

How frequently should I expect odometer and fuel diagnostics to be reported using the MyGeotab SDK?

NOTE: Exception rules are intended to work with exception conditions. In case a vehicle brokes an exception rule very often, then you may experience performance issues if you have a large fleet of devices on your database. Creating an exception rule for low speed limits (such as 50 kmh) in general (not restricted to a zone, but a generic speeding rule) might be not a good option in terms of performance on your database. Finally, there is a section on system settings where you can define 3 speed bands that are evaluated in the risk management reports: To edit these settings in MyGeotab,<ol><li>Go to Administration </li><li>Select System</li><li>Select System Settings</li><li>Under the General tab, scroll to RISK MANAGEMENT</li><li>Enter the desired Speed Bands 1, 2, and 3 and Grace period duration</li><li>Click Save</li></ol>  I hope this is helpful for you. Please let us know if you have any question

Speed rules by zones of increasing speed increments to warn drivers about speed in MyGeotab

Maybe you can try this: <ul><li>Create a zonetype for each speed range. Example: A zonetype called "50 kmh"</li><li>You can create an exception rule for each zonetype. Example: A rule called "Speeding at 50kmh zone type", with conditions "Speed &gt; 50kmh &amp; inside zonetype 50 kmh"</li><li>Then you just assign the right zone type to the right zones.</li></ul> Also, have you tried using posted roadspeed? https://www.geotab.com/blog/road-speeds-use-change/This might be helpful for detection of speeding events relative to specific posted road speed limits
