Dear @LPPapillon-1145 @jjake-8255 et al I have a vague recollection of an add-in config.json from one of Geotab's announcements/bootcamps that demoed the upcoming add-in security controls feature. Did this exist or am I imagining it? I'm attempting to fish out a solution for a customer that wants to restrict access to one of our partner's dashcam add-ins. A custom "hack" while we encourage the partner to implement this officially or to use getSession() to check against their users list. It was something like this and I could have sworn I found one of the new add-ins using this. "addinSecurityIdentifiers":{"ViewAddinIdentifier": "custom_idValueView"}

In addition, Geotab's primary API (https://my.geotab.com/apiv1) is JSON-RPC not RESTful or another type.

I am looking for API doc that seems to match with "apiv1"

Hi @DSmit-1392 I'm sure an actual software developer can chime in and clarify but I'll take a crack at it. We store the actual data points (StatusData) so you could take the activeFrom and activeTo and search for the acceleration forward and backward diagnostic and get the g force value from there.

How do you convert the harsh braking data that comes from the api to a meaningful number like deceleration in g's?

Good morning @AJohn-1690 You have a good plan, but I'd make a couple of adjustments to make it more efficient (and to save some typing).

Use Zone Types to categorize Zones (you can have many for each Zone). You can add your own using the Types button along the top of the Zones page.

Consider using "Inside" instead of Enter/Exit. "Event Start" is the "Enter" and "Start + Duration = Event End" is your "Exit"

Custom Rules for entering and exiting zones, without stopping

Hi @ttyav-1454 You're likely not subject to ELD requirements for your 1999 as the ELD mandate applies to 2000 models and higher. However, if you have a glider kit, you have to check that your engine year to determine basic eligibility. See the FMCSAs article here:When does the pre-2000 model year exception apply? | FMCSA (dot.gov)

Can a ELD be placed in a 1999 Kenworth T2000

How are you storing the results from your call? I'm not an iOS developer, but someone around here likely is.

Using ZONE API but need to sort the coordinates

Thanks @Genevieve-1051 Hopefully, this is a relatively easy fix. It's good practice too, I have a customer that is just kicking off their own Geotab-ESRI integration. I'll be prepared if they run into anything! @INACTIVE - D&C Dashboard ,I'm not much of a Java developer, so the inner workings of the event server code are a bit of a mystery to me. Can you check to make sure you're using the latest release for both the geotab-transport and geotab-adapter components for GeoEvent? The latest release v8 (April 2021) introduces the 'logrecord-id' attribute that's sent over from geotab-transport into the adapter..and by extension, is sourced from the LogRecord object in the Geotab API's JSON response. For a SQL database schema, Geotab's own API Adapter has it as a 50 character varchar. As for your stream service, I'm not sure, but here are a few things I found on the ESRI GeoEvent forum:Calculate Total Time Spent at a Location - Esri CommunityUnderstanding GeoEvent Definitions - Esri CommunityGeoEvent: Consuming New Data - Esri CommunityGeoEvent Different Type Than Schema of Destination... - Esri Community <- This one has no resolution from the user and is a bit old, but it may give you a hint or two Based on those links, whatever you have consuming the data coming out of your (Geotab) Input Connector isn't happy with an attribute definition or it needs a bit of a push (eg. republish) to match up with the latest geotab connector.

ESRI ArcGIS GeoEvent Server stream service will not stream and throws schema error

Use an exception rule to capture the Entering/Exiting times. Make sure you use an OR condition though, or it won't work as Enter/Exit are moments in time, not a running timer like Inside/Outside. Separate exceptions also work as well, it can save a little time. That will make the system do the heavy lifting and you can pull the LogRecords and whatever other data you want using the timestamps and Ids you pull from the ExceptionEvent. ----Now.. time for a bit of snark because that's the mood I'm in. If you want to spend all of your cloud money instead of Geotab's you could:

Pull all the log records and feed them back into GetAddresses() to get the zone name (also spends lots of Geotab cloud money)

Pull all the LogRecords and all the zones and write your own "does this lat/long fall within a zone" logic

Pull all the logs into a BigQuery database and use the BQ spatial functions. (this one is actually pretty fun on a real project)

Train an AI experiment to understand spatial systems and tell you if the vehicle resembles a tiger.

 .

Best Way to Determine When a Vehicle Leaves and Returns to a Zone using the Geotab API?

@wwalk-1040 The best answer to your technical question is "no", which is above. Technically correct is the best kind of correct! lol However, it is a great lead on how you could do it. Make some sweet romance with the Chrome Console to examine Surfsight add-in, it's API calls and the javascript that drives it. There SHOULD be a blob of code in there that exposes what calls to make to MyG and to Surfsight to link things together.. I hope.

Does the MyGeotab API have an endpoint to pair a Surfsight camera to a GO Device?

Hi @AIrfa-1478 This is a great opportunity to review Geotab's SDK documentation and their .NET example code. Be sure to use the pre-built API client. Geotab actively maintains that code so you don't have you roll your own. Also, something to consider is using the Geotab API Adapter which is a Windows (and Linux? (@jamesmccudden-1725 ) service that requests and pushes vehicle feed data into a SQL, Postgres, or MariaDB database. I bet you could modify it to do a bunch of other stuff if you fork it. Clients | MyGeotab SDK GitHub - Geotab/sdk-dotnet-samples: A collection of samples demonstrating common usages of the MyGeotab API for .Net MyGeotab API Adapter - Solution and Implementation Guide [PUBLIC] - Google Docs
