Newly installed GO10 device not activating

We installed a GO10 today to demo it and we are running into some issues. . .

The available documentation doesn't fit the situation perfectly, so I was hoping someone might have some additional insight. The relevant details/variables are below:

  • We installed it directly in a Ford F-450 (no intermediate harness - only Geotab proprietary harness).
  • The device's Green LED flashes twice than goes out when it was initially inserted into the OBD2 port.
  • With the vehicle's engine running, the device's Green LED continuously flashes rapidly.
  • This truck had a GO9 installed that was removed so that we could test the GO10.
  • The measurements from the GO9 being installed in the same vehicle shows valid ignition events during recent trips.
  • The device status screen shows that the last communication was about 5 hours ago at 10:26AM EST today - it looks like it hit the network for a moment on our first attempt.
  • On the Primary Device screen, it shows: "Last Communicated Unknown" just as we'd expect for a device that is not fully activated.


We haven't done a cross swap to another vehicle as of yet, but one should be available soon- in the meantime, I figured it wouldn't hurt to reach out to the community to see if anyone has additional insight to share.

A few thoughts...
When you first installed was the engine off or was the engine running then you installed? I always install the Go9 with the engine off then turn ignition on and wait for the lights to come to life.
Could it possibly be the harness isn't compatible with the Go10 & the Ford?

@BPennAU That's a good question! Unfortunately, I wasn't actually there when the initial installation was done, so I'm not sure of the ignition status when it was first installed.

Regarding the harness, as far as I know we are using the correct harness - XGS16K2-LD (purchased directly from Geotab).

-- I checked to see what logs or measurements might show up- The only item I see, since the GO10 was installed, is a single instance of an odometer log showing the vehicles mileage.

There seems to be a very limited amount of information regarding the GO10 available, on the Geotab site and elsewhere. . . Knowing that I'm going to have to support these new devices, I hope that more information gets published for them soon.

@DRich-9561 When I add a new asset into MyGeotab database, the odometer field is blank so I have to enter the reading manually. That could be why it's only displaying the odometer reading.

Is the harness the correct one for the year model of the F450 & could it possibly be classified as a 'heavy-duty' vehicle given the size (different harness)???
