Running an EV Suitability Assessment

Running an EV Suitability Assessment! Let's get started. The EVSA requires a minimum of one month of trip data before the analysis can run. Navigate to the EV Suitability Assessment page in MyGeotab by either selecting Sustainability, then EV Suitability Assessment, or searching for EV Suitability Assessment in the menu. The EVSA analyzes the drive cycle of light-duty internal combustion engine, or ICE, vehicles to determine whether an EV can meet their driving needs. The EVSA considers speed and local temperature, shows range capability throughout the year, and compares costs with an equivalent ICE vehicle. Remember, at least one month of trip data is required for the analysis to run. Start a New assessment in the top right to identify fleet vehicles that may be good candidates for electrification and help reduce emissions and fuel costs. Select your fleet's operating region. This helps the EVSA use relevant local conditions in its analysis. Accurate regional data means smarter recommendations for your transition to EVs. The assessment includes four sections: Vehicles to Assess, EV Models, Charging Locations, and Preferences. Select the vehicles you want to include in your assessment. Use the filters in the top toolbar to refine the list, if needed, then verify every selected vehicle belongs in the assessment. Select Continue in the bottom right after reviewing the vehicles selected for assessment. Under EV Models, review the selected electric vehicle replacement candidates. Use the filters in the top toolbar to refine the list, if needed, and include all EV models you want to compare. Select Continue in the bottom right after reviewing the EV models selected for comparison. Under Charging Locations, select the planned charger locations. The assessment checks whether fleet vehicles stop at these locations long enough to meet their charging needs. Underneath, select up to 50 zones for your planned charging infrastructure. Include locations such as workplaces, parking lots, and home chargers to support the charging viability analysis. If needed, use the toolbar to search for specific zones or filter based on zone type. Select Continue in the bottom right after reviewing the charging locations and zones included in the viability analysis. Lastly, under Preferences, review the procurement model, default costs, and analysis period, and update them to match your planning assumptions. Select Finish in the bottom right to run the EVSA after confirming the vehicles, EV models, charging locations, and preferences. The EVSA report may take some time to complete. Once the report finishes, launch it from the EV Suitability Assessment page in MyGeotab. Use the completed report to evaluate the results in MyGeotab or download it for additional analysis. Congratulations! You've completed this tutorial for how to run an EV Suitability Assessment.
