Hello Community!

I'm looking for some information or guidance on how-to complete a factory reset on a Surfsight AI-12 Dashcam with a forgotten pin (that was modified / is NOT "3333")- or if there is even an alternate process available.

For context: I found a Geotab article (included below for reference) that states a factory reset can be completed via a hidden hardware reset key on Surfsight cams....

However, I confirmed that the info in the article is NOT accurate
(I physically inspected a Surfsight AI-12 and confirmed that there are NO hidden hardware reset keys present).

Hi @support-8243 , thanks for checking this and flagging the article. Surfsight's AI-12 documentation describes the pinhole Reset button as a way to restart the dashcam, not factory-reset it. The on-device factory reset requires the current PIN, so it won't help if that PIN has been forgotten.

There is an authorized reset option available through Surfsight's support tools. I do not believe this is something you would be able to do yourself without API access. Please contact your reseller or Geotab Support for help resetting the camera. The Geotab article's instructions should be corrected to distinguish a restart from a factory reset.
