Hi @DGarc-2093 , What you are seeing is the expected format when receiving data from our APIs. The data is structured as a list of dictionaries. The inconsistency you feel may be due to the fact that not all dictionaries in the list will have the exact same keys (a regular user vs a driver for instance), or the structure of the nested data might vary.To get the data you want, you need to iterate through the list and then access the specific data you need from each dictionary using its key.Here is a simple, generic example of how you would do this in Python:
# 1. Loop through each user in the outer list
for user in user_results:
user_name = user['name']
user_id = user['id']

# Use .get() as a safe way to access the key. It returns None if the key doesn't exist.
security_groups = user.get('securityGroups')

# 2. Check if the security_groups list exists and is not empty
if security_groups:
# 3. Create a NESTED LOOP to iterate through each group in the list
for group in security_groups:
# 4. Access the information for each specific group
group_name = group['name']
print(f"User: {user_name} (ID: {user_id}) has Security Role: {group_name}")
else:
# This part handles users with no assigned roles
print(f"User: {user_name} (ID: {user_id}) has no assigned security roles.")
Hope that helps. Regards,Ajay SrinivasanIntegrations Engineering LeadGeoab

Returned Python Payload isn't consistently formed

Hi @JJohn-2083 , If your question is about why the LogRecord object has the devices' id but not the name, then it is intentional. When an entity like Device is linked to other entities like LogRecord, we only indicate the id of the linked entity. The Device entity has all the information related to devices. So, you can make a Get <Device> API call to retrieve information about the devices and create a cache of device ids and corresponding device names. Using the deviceId from the LogRecord results, you can refer to the cache dictionary to get the device name. Depending on how frequently the device names are edited (if at all) you would need to update the cache. References:https://developers.geotab.com/myGeotab/apiReference/objects/Device/index.htmlhttps://developers.geotab.com/myGeotab/apiReference/objects/DeviceSearch/index.htmlhttps://developers.geotab.com/myGeotab/apiReference/objects/LogRecord/index.html Hope this helps. Ajay SrinivasanIntegrations Engineering LeadGeotab

Utilize LogRecord data for MyGeotab API integration

Hi @RStan-1891 , Understood. I believe it is due to the fact that the last record odometer adjustment could change based on new updated information from vehicle ECU. So, it's set to a future date.While committing your result to downstream, you can look for an actual record instead of the interpolated records. See image below for explanationodometer adjustment odometer I hope this helps. RegardsAjay

Different odometer timestamp based on request parameters in MyGeotab SDK

Hi @RStan-1891 , If you don't want the default max date, then you can specify both fromDate and toDate as the same value.This should give you the latest record at the specified dateTime. Example:
api.call("Get", {
"typeName": "StatusData",
"search":{
fromDate:'2024-10-07T14:09:51.366Z',
toDate:'2024-10-07T14:09:51.366Z',
"diagnosticSearch":{
id:"DiagnosticOdometerAdjustmentId"
},
"deviceSearch":{
"id":"b14"
},
},
}, function(result) {
console.log("Done: ", result);
}, function(e) {
console.error("Failed:", e);
});
Result:-Array[1] [ ... ]-0: Objectcontroller: "ControllerNoneId"data: 148699900dateTime: "2024-10-07T14:09:51.366Z"+device: Object+diagnostic: Objectid: "null"length: 1 I hope this helps.Let me know if you have any questions. Regards,Ajay Srinivasan,Integrations Engineering LeadGeotab

Hi @RShen-1512 , You can select any trip and select the 'Assign driver' by clicking the 3 dots on the right hand side. Doing this will assign the driver to the specific trip and the datetime used will be that of the trip's start time. Similarly, when you need to assign a driver to a trip that happened 3 days ago, you can use the start time of the trip when making the API call as the dateTime. I hope this helps. Regards,Ajay

Driver Change API - TripDriver Type

Hi @RShen-1512 , I was not able to reproduce your issue during my testing.A successful DriverChange API call will be returned with an alphanumeric id that represents the id of the DriverChange record. You can retrieve the driver change record as followsExample:
api.call("Get", {
"typeName": "DriverChange",
search:{
id:"aHtxanpsqL0aN_FWh84TLUQ" // id returned from Add DriverChange API call
}
}, function(result) {
console.log("Done: ", result);
}, function(e) {
console.error("Failed:", e);
});
One thing to note is that when you do the assignment via the UI, the current time will be used as the value for the 'dateTime' field.In your API call, are you using the current date time?The change gets queued for processing when a driver change from a past 'dateTime' is created. So, it may not reflect immediately. I hope this helps. Regards,Ajay SrinivasanIntegrations Engineering LeadGeotab

Hi @DFenn-1143 , I agree with your observations. The DVIRLog indeed gives you the alphanumeric string for Trailer.IdSo, as of now, Get Trailer with TrailerSearch set to the id from the DVIRLog will allow you to retrieve the trailer even though there is a warning that 'Trailer' entity is obsolete.However, stay tuned as we will be soon making modification to the DVIRLog so that it returns the hex id like 'b3' for example.After this, you will be able to make the Get Device call with the hex id. Regards,Ajay SrinivasanIntegrations Engineering LeadGeotab

How to get trailer details from a DVIRLog in C# from the Geotab SDK?

Hi @FCS Ford Fleet Marketplace - DO NOT REMOVE (SERVICE) , The parameter should be username (all lowercase) as opposed to userName.The casing structure is different between mygeotab vs myadmin. So, I believe that is the source of the confusion.I hope this resolves your issues.Let me know if there are any other errors. CheersAjay

call the new endpoint for vehicle info in Geotab API

Hi @DETAS-1975 , The getfeed method is intended for pulling data in a continuous stream from the database as soon as it is available.For getfeed StatusData the ability to filter for a list of devices is not available. You will be able to do the same if you are using the Get method instead of GetFeed.You can add the intended vehicles in a group and call Get StatusData while specifying a groupSearch to match the groupId you created.This should return all the StatusData for those vehicles. Additionally, instead of pulling all the StatusData, you can pull only the diagnostics you need by using diagnosticSearch set to the specific diagnosticId (note that only one diagnosticId can be searched per call. You can use the multicall approach to bundle multiple API calls each with a different diagnosticSearch to get the different diagnostics for the list of vehicles. Let me know if you have any questions.I hope this helps. Regards,Ajay SrinivasanIntegrations Engineering Lead,Geotab

Geotab SDK Search by mutliply device IDs

Hi @FCS Ford Fleet Marketplace - DO NOT REMOVE (SERVICE) , This method is from the MyAdmin API.Please take a look at the following link. The apikey is the userId that is returned after successful authentication to MyAdmin API.https://developers.geotab.com/myAdmin/guides/gettingStarted Let me know if you have any questions.I hope this helps. Regards,Ajay SrinivasanIntegrations Engineering Lead,Geotab
