Using Geotab Data Connector with Tableau

Using Geotab Data Connector with Tableau! Let's get started. Navigate to the Data Connector page in MyGeotab by either selecting Reports, then Data Connector, or searching for Data Connector in the menu. The Tableau tab provides the access URL and templates for Tableau. Copy the Access URL so you can use it to configure each data source in Tableau. Choose a template that fits your dashboard needs and download it. Open the downloaded template to begin configuring its data sources in Tableau. In Tableau, open the Data menu to view the template's data sources. Open the first data source and select Edit Data Source to update its connection details. Replace the first part of the Server value with the Access URL you copied from MyGeotab earlier. Do not remove the table identifier at the end of the URL. For the Username, enter your database name, followed by a slash and your MyGeotab username. For example, db123/demo_user@example.com. Enter the password associated with the MyGeotab username you provided. Select Sign In to verify the connection using the server and credentials you entered. Open a dashboard tab after the connection summary loads to return to the workbook. Repeat the Edit Data Source steps to update every data source in the template individually so each one uses the correct Access URL, table identifier, and credentials. After every data source has been configured, open the Data menu and select Refresh All Extracts. Confirm the Refresh so Tableau retrieves the latest data from the connected sources. Allow every extract to finish refreshing before you close the refresh window or review the dashboards. Close the window after all data source extracts have refreshed. Save the workbook after the data loads so your configured connections and dashboards are preserved. With the data sources connected, you can now create custom dashboards in Tableau using your MyGeotab data. Congratulations! You've completed this tutorial for how to use Geotab Data Connector with Tableau.
