Security Clearance guide for all options?

Hello @DWith-2015 , Thank you for asking this question on community, here is what I understood that the issue you are experiencing relates to activating a newly installed GO device in MyGeotab after replacing a faulty one. Here's a step-by-step guide to resolve this:Step 1: Make your Older Device historical on MyGeotab.

In MyGeotab, go to Assets.

Find and click on the asset with the device you want to make historical.

Scroll down to the Device section and click Unplug device.

Choose an Action

Select one of the following options:

Unplug and Keep Active: This stops the device from reporting new data but keeps the historical data and the asset active.

Unplug and Archive: This makes the device historical, removes the serial number from the vehicle, and archives the asset.

Click Archive asset to confirm.

Step 2: Remove the Faulty Device from MyGeotab

In MyGeotab, navigate to Assets.

Select the vehicle with the faulty device.

Under the Asset heading, click Unplug Device.

Choose whether to Keep Active (if you plan to use the vehicle with a different device) or Archive vehicle. link

Step 3: Add the New Device to MyGeotab

On the Vehicles page, click Add > Add asset.

Enter the new GO device's serial number and vehicle description.

Click OK to save.

Step 4: Activate the New Device

Physically install the new GO device in the vehicle.

Take the vehicle for a 10-15 minute drive in an area with good cellular coverage. This allows the device to activate and begin communicating with MyGeotab. GO9 devices and newer receive the latest firmware upon installation for activation.

Step 5: Verify the Device is Reporting

After the drive, check MyGeotab to confirm the new device is reporting data.

It may take multiple trips for the device to fully validate and report the correct odometer reading.

Let me know if this helps. Regards

How to replace a Geotab device?

Hello @PKirk-2001 , Thank you for asking this question on community. To retrieve data like auxiliary port, position (latitude and longitude), and speed using the Geotab Python API, you can utilize the "DeviceStatusInfo" object. linkHere's how you can do it:

Establish an API Connection: Use the mygeotab.API class to create a connection to your Geotab database. Provide your username, password, and database name.

client = mygeotab.API(username='userName', password='password', database='databasename')
client.authenticate()

Retrieve Device Status Information: Use the

client.call()

method with the "DeviceStatusInfo" call to get the device's current status.

This call will return a dictionary containing various data points, including the device's latitude, longitude, and speed.

device_status = client.call('DeviceStatusInfo', deviceSearch={ 'id': 'your_device_id' })

Access Data: Once you have the device_status dictionary, you can access the specific data points you need. For example:

latitude = device_status['latitude']
longitude = device_status['longitude']
speed = device_status['speed']

Auxiliary Port Data: To retrieve data from the auxiliary port, you'll need to use the appropriate API call based on the specific auxiliary port configuration and the type of data you want to access. You can explore the Geotab SDK documentation for available API calls related to auxiliary ports.

Important Notes:

Device ID: Replace 'your_device_id' with the actual ID of the device you want to query.

Geotab SDK: Refer to the Geotab SDK documentation for a comprehensive list of API calls and their parameters

Source links [1], [2] Let us know if this helps and also let's see if you can get help from other community members.Regards,A. How do I get the Auxillary port, position (Lat,Long), speed data using Python API call for a specific MyGeotab device?

Hello @jsanz-1479 , Thank you for asking this question on community, this what I have found here's a breakdown of how to implement a system that calls a third-party service via an API when certain actions are performed in MyGeotab, using the MyGeotab API Adapter:Step 1: Set Up the MyGeotab API Adapter

Download and Install: Obtain the MyGeotab API Adapter from Geotab. You'll need to deploy the adapter and its associated database in your partner/reseller environment. link

Choose a Database: Select a supported database for the adapter, such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.

Configure Credentials: Provide MyGeotab credentials with "View" clearances enabled for the database you're using. It's recommended to set up a dedicated service account for this purpose.

Configure Data Feeds: Use the appsettings.json file to configure data feeds for specific object types, set feed intervals, and enable or disable individual feeds.

Step 2: Define Triggering Events

Identify Actions: Determine the specific actions in MyGeotab that should trigger calls to your third-party service. For example, you might want to trigger a call when a new DVIRLog is created, a device status changes, or a specific exception rule is triggered.

Configure Data Feeds: Set up data feeds to capture the relevant data associated with these actions. Ensure the feeds are configured to run at appropriate intervals to capture the events in a timely manner.

Step 3: Integrate with the Third-Party Service

API Documentation: Review the API documentation for your third-party service to understand the required parameters, endpoints, and authentication methods.

Develop Integration Logic: Create code or scripts that will extract the necessary data from the adapter database and format it according to the third-party service's API requirements.

Implement API Calls: Use the appropriate libraries or tools to make API calls to the third-party service, passing the extracted data as parameters.

Handle Responses: Process any responses from the third-party service and take appropriate actions based on the results.

Step 4: Test and Deploy

Thorough Testing: Test your integration thoroughly to ensure it functions correctly and handles various scenarios, including errors and edge cases.

Deployment: Deploy your integration solution to your production environment. Consider using a system account or task scheduler to run the adapter and integration logic automatically.

Example: DVIRLog Integration

Data Feed: Configure a data feed to capture new DVIRLogs from MyGeotab.

Adapter Database: The adapter writes the DVIRLog data to the adapter database.

Integration Logic: Develop code to extract the DVIRLog data from the adapter database and format it for the EAM system's API.

API Call: Make an API call to the EAM system, sending the formatted DVIRLog data to create a repair work order.

Remember:

The MyGeotab API Adapter provides a robust framework for integrating third-party systems with MyGeotab.

You can customize the integration logic to meet your specific needs.

Thorough testing is crucial to ensure your integration functions correctly.

Source Let us know if this helpedRegards,

How can I set up a notification to get informed when a tracking device has been disconnected from the vehicle?

@MAdmi-1717 Thank you for asking this question, I have some advice if that's what you are looking for Step 1: Navigate to Assets > Report > Advanced.Step 2: Open the report in Excel.Step 3: Right-click the tabs at the bottom of the Excel sheet and select Unhide....Step 4: Select the Data tab.Step 5: The data you need is in Column L, labeled DeviceDetailsLocation. ( column number can vary )Step 6: Insert a new column in the Report tab (before the last column).Step 7: Import the data from Column L of the Data tab into the new column you created in the Report tab using the "=" operator. For example, the first data point would be: =Data!$L9.Step 8: Double-click the lower right-hand corner of the cell to apply the formula to the entire column.Step 9: Hide the Data tab again.Step 10: Go to Report > Report Setup... > Emailed Reports > Create custom report. Step 11: Upload your file and set the email settings to send the report to the desired recipients.Step 12: Set the time for the report to be sent out each morning. Note: This solution applies to users with fewer than 1000 vehicles. If you have more than 1000 vehicles, you will need to narrow down your selection to a smaller group of fewer than 1000 vehicles.Source Let us know if this was helpfulRegards,

@DFran-1925 Thank you for asking this question on community. After the release of Geotab software version 2001, logs cannot be moved from a driver back to "Unidentified Driver". Instead, you should ignore and annotate the logs. Here is the possible steps based on scenarios : To reassign logs from one driver to another driver:

In MyGeotab, go to Compliance > HOS > Duty Status Logs.

Under Display Options, select Unidentified Driver and the desired date range.

Click Apply Changes.

In the top right corner of the page, click the drop-down list next to Total Items.

Select Select Individual.

Choose the specific logs you want to edit.

At the top of the page, click Edit selected HOS logs.

Under Driver, select Replace With and search for the desired driver's name.

Add an annotation if needed.

Click Save.

Note: If the driver you are moving the logs to has any drive time during the same period, the assignment will fail. The driver will be prompted to accept the logs the next time they log in to the Geotab Drive App. Until then, the logs will be in a "pending edit" state. To assign unassigned logs to a driver:

When a driver logs into the Geotab Drive App, they may be presented with a prompt about unassigned logs.

The prompt will ask if the logs belong to the driver's duty status logs.

If the logs belong to the driver, they can select the logs and click "Assign to me".

This will move the logs from "Unidentified Driver" to the current driver's logs.

To check if logs have been reassigned:

View the log details in MyGeotab.

In the Origin box, you will see "Unassigned driver log".

In the Modifications box, you will see the date and the change from "Unidentified Driver" to the new driver's name.

Let us know if this helps and covered your ask Regards
