Editing assets

Editing assets! Let's get started. Navigate to the Assets page in MyGeotab by either clicking Assets, or searching for Assets in the menu. You can search for the desired asset by name, VIN, device serial number, license plate, or comment. Select the asset to edit. For fleets requiring regulatory compliance, there are a few key pieces of information that you will want to verify for your vehicles. First, check that the Vehicle Identification Number or VIN is correct. If the asset is a vehicle, the VIN should automatically populate in the database. Next, review the license plate and ensure it is correct for this asset. Under Usage, you can find a summary of your vehicle's activity over the last seven days. Verify that the odometer and engine hours are up to date. Assign the correct Driver to the asset, if needed. Further down, review the Hours of service or H.O.S. setting. These options control whether or not the vehicle generates automatic duty status logs. Assets are set to auto by default. When a driver logs into Geotab Drive and selects the asset, the setting switches to On, indicating that the asset is using H.O.S. If the setting is switched to Off, no logs will be created for the asset when it moves. To the right, you can view the current status of the fuel tank or battery for the vehicle. Underneath, review any Events—rules broken by the asset—from the last 7 days. In the Maintenance tab, identify and prioritize maintenance to help prevent vehicle wear and reduce downtime. In the Devices & Settings tab, adjust settings such as audio feedback, which delivers in-vehicle coaching for drivers to promote good driving behavior. Any detected devices—including the GO device, IOX or camera—will appear here as well, giving you one central place to control device-specific settings. Make any other desired edits to the asset or its devices, then click Save when finished. Congratulations! You've completed this tutorial for how to edit assets.
