Earlier this year, Geotab extended its Collision Risk feature to support Ford OEM integrations, bringing predictive safety scoring to fleets running Ford connected vehicles. A foundational gap remained, though: Geotab's harsh safety event rules — detecting harsh acceleration, braking, and cornering — were not compatible with the Ford OEM integration, so customers with Ford connected vehicles couldn't see harsh event exceptions in MyGeotab even as GO device customers could.

Why it matters
  • The Ford OEM integration now includes Geotab's harsh safety event rules, giving fleet managers full visibility into harsh acceleration, braking, and cornering directly in MyGeotab.
  • Ford OEM devices generate harsh event exceptions in the same place fleet managers already manage their safety data, enabling the same coaching and action workflows GO device customers already rely on.
  • Builds on the Collision Risk capability launched earlier this year, giving partners a more complete Ford OEM safety story with no additional hardware or installation cost.
What you need to do

No additional setup is required for customers with Harsh Safety Rules already enabled. Customers with a large number of Ford OEM devices may notice a meaningful increase in exception volume once the feature is enabled — this reflects events that were always occurring but weren't previously visible. Customers with Harsh Safety Rules disabled, or no Ford OEM vehicles, will see no change; Collision Risk scores are unaffected.

Availability

Phased rollout behind a feature flag starting Wednesday, September 23, spanning approximately one week, starting with smaller databases and scaling up. The top 15 most-impacted databases by projected exception volume will receive a targeted in-app notification before the feature is enabled for their database.
